Persol 804

The Persol 804 folding sunglasses portray a great combination of form and function. These sunglasses combine classic styling in a sleek form and fold into a very compact size. The really cool element is how some of the hardware that enables the folding at the bridge is exposed and adds a certain utilitarian element that contrasts beautifully with it's sleek classic design.

Would love to see these in production again. The 649 / 714 is just not a good shape for my face, and this 804 would be great for me. (Hard to find and pricey in the vintage model ...)

Luxottica (now owner/maker of Persol, Revo, Rayban names) produces licensed product for many designer labels. They're making a folding Ralph Lauren "aviator" shape that clearly uses the 714 hinge hardware. Like the frame a lot for my face, and happened to find them at an outlet price. But they're not Persols!

Luxottica seems to be watering down the brands in some ways: lots of their licensees get "adaptations" of some classic Persol ideas, and some Persols have been introduced that look more like Revos, etc ... will be interesting to see how that shakes out.

Are you exchanging your 804 (new i suppose) with a never worn, still with tags light tortoise 714 Ratti?
Hope you will answer!!!!!!!!
Thanks anyway
