Ray Ban Kalichrome Shooter

The Ray Ban Kalichrome Shooter was designed for shooting sports conducted in hazy, foggy and low light. The yellow lenses refered to as the Kalichrome lenses actually intensify light and increase contrast, wearing them on bright sunny days will only hurt your eyes, but you will at least look cool. Their design is similar to the aviator but sit higher up on the face and the space between lenses is smaller separated by a circular ring that some people call the bullet hole. This pair also have the cable temples to give a secure fit and give them a cool utilitarian look.

This was the exact pair worn by Johnny Depp who played the character on Hunter S Thompson in the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas!! Amazing!! This was owned by Hunter. Part of cine history! Thanks for sharing. I found your blog when I was searching for this very pair of sunglasses! :)

Alakh Niranjan Joseph, close, very close but no cigar, the pair that Johnny Depp wore in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, was actually a pair with Ambermatic lenses, the lenses show a noticable differance depening on the light reflected on the lenses (which also can be noticed in the movie), the lenses shifts from clear, transparent yellow, to foggy brown depending on the intensity of sunlight.
They look really close to the Kalichrome lenses, but the ambermatic is a bir more brown in its tone

Damn, is it possible to find the ambermatic anywhere? I almost ordered a pair of these but I want the same ones that are in fear and loathing

Actually, this pair happens to be 58mm. The pair that Depp wore in the beginning of the film was 62mm and kalichrome. If I remember correctly, he used ambermatics or a pair with brown lenses in a later part of the movie.

If you go to shiptheweb.com and click the Elope button (a store that sells costumes), and then click glasses, then click halloween, then search out these aviators, they have a pair that I believe are nearly exactly the same as the ones in the movie. They've got the sweat bar, the ring in the middle, the gold frame, and orange-yellow lenses. They're super cheap, too (only $6). That might be a bad thing though...

B&L Ray-Ban product identification is either 2929 or 3138 though I suspect that the 2929 stock number was specifically for the Aviator Kalichrome Shooter. 3138 is the product ID number for purchasing Green or Black Shooters from the Italian Ray-Ban company's web site. They aren't selling Aviator Kalichrome Shooters on that site as far as I can tell. My pair is very old it's bullet hole is welded on top and is not seamless like the more modern versions. There is no Ray-Ban logo in the left lens and no B&L etching in the lenses at the hinges. B&L RAY BAN USA is centered on the frame at the top. Would love to find a site that documents B&L Ray-Ban glasses and styles.
